Filming is finally underway for Disney+’s The Mandalorian season 3, and that means it’s time to start picking up on some big leaks and rumors. As we always preface, take these rumors with a grain of salt. And if you don’t want anything to potentially be spoiled, then we’ll advise a spoiler warning just in case the information ends up being true.

So let’s dig into the latest rumor, which cropped up on the Star Wars Leaks subreddit. According to a new leak, there may be a massive scene filmed for season 3 where a large number of Mandalorians will be needed on set. And yes, according to this, production will need real human beings in the suits — not just filling in the scene with CGI models of Mandalorians.

As the rumor goes, approximately 75 new Mandalorians will be included in this scene. Some of them will be played by actors — but any of the Mandalorians in the background would be played by fans. So, why fans? Well apparently, production would like the help of fans who have their own, realistic Mandalorian armor. That would surely be a relief for the costume department if that’s true, especially considering there are many fans out there who have indeed made some movie-quality suits on their own.

On top of that, the rumor also supplied a synopsis that details why the Mandalorians would be needed for this type of scene in the first place. The scene is described as the following:

"Disparate individual Mandalorians from around the galaxy answer a call Din Djarin sends out to the galaxy for help. Din Djarin’s legend is growing throughout the galaxy as rumors of a true Mandalore returning is heard throughout the galaxy. When Din makes the call, it is answered by more Mandalorians that you could have ever imagined."

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen The Mandalorian reach out to fans for help. For season 1, they actually used fans from the 501st Legion organization as stormtrooper extras. So we can totally see them doing this for season 3, but with Mandalorians this time. It’s an overall great way to pay homage to the fans and let them become a part of something they’ve loved their entire lives.

Plus, the synopsis supplied in the rumor seems quite plausible too, especially considering the ending of season 2 has teased the reclamation of Mandalore so much. While not a goal of Din’s, it certainly was on Bo-Katan’s mind, and she was clear about her goal of restoring her home planet. Now, with Din in possession of the Darksaber, he’ll certainly be dragged into this as well. But it’s not a two-person job. So I can see them calling on help from fellow Mandalorians to help take back what’s theirs.

Also, it’s just interesting to read that Din might be a bit of a galaxy celebrity amongst other Mandalorians. In the bounty hunting community (and those who have a bounty on their head), he was already known far and wide. So, at this point, it should be easier for Din to get help with whatever he needs. But I’d be interested to see who gets in his way this time, whether it be the remaining officers of the fallen Empire or someone (or “something”) else.
