Sasha Banks says she won’t return in The Mandalorian season 3
By Mia Johnson
In The Mandalorian season 2, we got the addition of three new Mandalorians. That included Katee Sackhoff as the live-action Bo-Katan Kryze, Simon Kassianides as Axe Woves, and WWE star Sasha Banks as Koska Reeves. And while we haven’t gotten any official casting announcements about season 3 so far, Sasha Banks is stepping forward herself and announcing that she won’t be part of The Mandalorian season 3.
Banks revealed this in a lengthy interview with Bleacher Report, where she discussed her career as both a wrestler and an actress. But speaking on her future with Star Wars, she said:
"First of all, thanks for trying to get that out, but I’m not on the next season. But it was incredible being on The Mandalorian on Star Wars. To be on a franchise that is so huge and so loved, just look at the reception from fans outside of the WWE Universe. It was the best feeling of all time. The projection of that show was overwhelming. I legit felt like I was in a galaxy so far, far away. I felt like I was on a different planet."
It would seem like there’s ample opportunity for Banks to return in season 3, especially considering Din Djarin has more work to do with Bo-Katan. (She wants to reclaim Mandalore and he’s the current holder of the Darksaber, so their story is far from over.) But, of course, there could be a number of factors as to why she won’t return. It’s possible the story just doesn’t call for her character anymore. Or perhaps Banks was happy to have this be a one-and-done kind of role.
Nonetheless, she did express how glad she was to have worked on the Disney+ Star Wars series:
"It was something I will always take with me and I took so much of what I learned from acting with them and being with so many great stars to WWE. It really helped my confidence as well when I came back from doing The Mandalorian two years ago. It was such a learning curve and something I wasn’t expecting, but now I’m in this whole new Hollywood world and it’s going amazingly. I’m so excited for the fans, and I can’t wait for my fans to see what’s next."
Will Sasha Banks return to Star Wars?
Unless Banks is covering herself and trying not to reveal spoilers, it looks like we’ll be without Koska Reeves when season 3 of The Mandalorian drops next year. Although, this doesn’t address the rumor about her appearing in The Book of Boba Fett that went viral earlier this month.
On Instagram, she had shared the poster for The Book of Boba Fett. And as common as sharing something like that may be, some people took it as a sign that she would show up in this new series somehow. That can still be a possibility, especially if scenes for The Mandalorian season 2 and Boba Fett were filmed back to back or simultaneously. But we’ll just have to wait for either a casting announcement at some point — or when the series premieres on Dec. 29 — to find out.
