The Star Wars rumors have gotten so fun recently, now that we’ve got lots of new Star Wars projects to look forward to. And Andor is just one of them, set to come out on Disney+ sometime in 2022.

Now, rumors and “leaks” can be a little frustrating too. Because even some of the biggest, most plausible scoops fall through. And if you get too attached to them, you may end up getting burned. That’s why, with our philosophy, it’s always better to just take everything with a grain of salt, like with the newest report we’ve seen just now.

According to Making Star Wars (via The Direct), actor Andy Serkis may be returning to Star Wars. And they say that Andy Serkis has been cast in the Andor series. This series will follow the titular character Cassian Andor during his time as a spy. And time-wise, it will happen pre-Rogue One.

The thing is, Andy Serkis has already played a character in Star Wars — Supreme Leader Snoke, who appeared in the sequel films. Not much has ever been revealed about Snoke on screen. And, unfortunately, it’s not worth digging into the literary tales with his backstory they tried to build off-screen. (Too little, too late.) So, this opens up two possibilities…

Andy Serkis returns to Star Wars?

The first potential outcome is that Andy Serkis reprises his role as Snoke. (Could this be one of the “familiar faces” that star Diego Luna teased that we would see in the upcoming series?)

As Making Star Wars posits, perhaps Serkis will be involved in the series this time by playing the “real” Snoke (not the possible clone created by Palpatine), and we’ll finally get some concrete answers about who he is and what he does. But, it’d be quite a swing to shoehorn Snoke into the series, simply because we don’t equate Snoke with the Empire at the height of its rule. But maybe that’s something they can pull off.

The other option is that Serkis ends up playing a completely different character, and I’d like to think that would be the case if this rumor is true. Serkis has had some time showing his face on-camera recently, such as being Ulysses Klaue in the MCU and appearing as Alfred in The Batman. So perhaps we’ll be seeing him in a non-CGI role this time around.

Or, there’s still the possibility that they will need him for his motion-capture expertise, performing a completely new character who will ultimately come together in post-production. Still, just about any actor can do mo-cap work these days. So if Serkis is getting back into the Star Wars universe, I’d love to see him as his normal self this time around.
