Gina Carano was a favorite on The Mandalorian set for one co-star
The Mandalorian star Gina Carano was a favorite of her co-star Giancarlo Esposito. The veteran actor, who plays Moff Gideon in the Disney+ series, told fans at FAN EXPO Denver that he loved working with her, according to ComicBook.com. However, he was also aware of how his comment might come off to some people, given the way she was fired from the show.
Esposito also said that his admiration for Carano had zero to do with her beliefs, which she is vocal about online. For him, the reason he loved working with her was because of how she acted in the scenes she performed. He also stated that he would not comment on whether her actions were right or not, as it was none of his business.
It should be noted that guest star, Bill Burr also rallied behind Carano, saying she was “an absolute sweetheart.”
Carano’s character, Cara Dune, who was an ex-shock trooper from Alderaan became a beloved figure within Star Wars upon her introduction. While her time with Lucasfilm was only very short, she was included by the company in their Emmy considerations for The Mandalorian. Not to mention, that she had backing from big players in Hollywood who are against cancel culture.
Disney was forced to cut Carano from her contract because of the public’s perspective on how it could damage the Disney brand if they allowed someone with the views Carano has to remain.
It has been rumored that Carano was to receive her own Star Wars spinoff series, according to another post from ComicBook.com. Some have speculated that that project was going to be Rangers of the New Republic. However, this and the rumor that Cara will be replaced with Hera Syndulla has not been confirmed.
In conclusion, it is all still up in the air as to what the truth is. Usually, if multiple people come out to say something similar, then there’s some semblance of the truth.
