Disney+ Day, the celebration of the platform’s second year alive in the streaming business, has been a deluge of information from season renewals to new shows and movies set to make their land in 2022.
Unfortunately, what the streamer hasn’t been as forthcoming with is Star Wars news. What’s been released is a behind-the-scenes look at Obi-Wan Kenobi which had already been leaked prior to the event and a special look at the documentary Under the Helmet which is available to stream now on Disney+.
StarWars.com also has a list of deals fans can indulge in thanks to the celebratory fever the streamer is currently in, but we have to say, this Star Wars news drop has been disappointingly light.
Still, if you’re looking to bypass the ever-growing Disney+ Day thread over on Twitter, here’s a round-up of the Star Wars news that’s been released.
Disney+ Day – behind the scenes of Obi-Wan Kenobi
The short featurette consists of Ewan McGregor and director Deborah Chow discussing much of what fans already know about the series. We’ll be dropped into Obi-Wan’s life in the aftermath of Anakin’s crossover into the Dark Side.
The Jedi’s one mission is to keep Luke safe, but he’ll be doing so in an era where those of his Order are being hunted. McGregor expressed his own excitement for Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. He teased that the two would clash once again in an epic battle.
Other than that, the featurette includes concept art for the series, footage from the prequel trilogy, and McGregor working on his fighting choreography with trainers.
Disney+ Day – Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett trailer
In the lead-up to The Book of Boba Fett’s release on Wednesday, Dec. 29, Disney+ has released the documentary Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett that’s available to watch now.
The 21-minute short film delves into the character’s history within the Star Wars universe and the unbelievable fan reaction to Boba Fett that’s finally led to the iconic bounty hunter receiving his own show.
