The Book of Boba Fett premieres on Disney+ Wednesday, Dec. 29, closing out 2021 by launching Star Wars fans into one more adventure before we see 2022.

In a year that saw the debut of The Clone Wars‘ spin-off series, The Bad Batch, land on the streamer along with the the anime anthology Star Wars: Visions (which could score the franchise yet another Oscar), 2021 has been a consistent stream of new content set in this galaxy far, far away.

Disney+ will be ending 2021 an iconic note with The Book of Boba Fett not only because the series will be focused on the legendary bounty hunter himself but also due to its sure-footed step into the crime genre to tell his story.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming shift in power in the criminal underworld of Star Wars.

The Book of Boba Fett synopsis

The official synopsis via Disney+:

"“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the Season 2 finale of “The Mandalorian,” finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate."

As the synopsis describes, The Book of Boba Fett will drop viewers into the aftermath of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand’s grab for power at the end of The Mandalorian‘s second season. While we won’t spoil the details of that plot, we will say that it opens a power vacuum that the bounty hunters intend to fill.

In the official trailer for the show, Boba Fett states that he’ll rule through respect not fear, however, that can be a thin line to walk especially at the start of a command change. We can’t wait to see how he and Fennec bring Jabba the Hutt’s former territory under their control.
