These days, Star Wars Legends characters are getting more love and affection in Galaxy of Heroes than almost any other current medium centered on a galaxy far, far away. The recent release of playable Legends characters such as Kyle Katarn and Mara Jade were exciting sights to behold. But the past four Marquee Events were all leading up to today’s Legacy Event: The arrival of the legendary Starkiller.
Originating from the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games and game novelizations, Starkiller served as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice until he broke away from the Empire and affiliated himself with what would eventually become the Rebel Alliance. Once an apprentice of evil, he eventually died a symbol of hope and resistance among the likes of Bail Organa and Mon Mothma.
In Galaxy of Heroes, Starkiller will be classified as a dark side character and unaligned Force user (similar to Mara Jade), He will also fall under the classification of “attacker,” which means he will be best used in a defensive position and not as a leader.
According to the official Galaxy of Heroes forums, Starkiller is described as “A powerful Dark Side Force User whose inner conflict lifts up other Force Users.” So he will likely work best with other Dark Side Force-users such as Mara Jade, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine and will offer boosts to such characters when attacking together.
The name “Starkiller” did not originate with the Legends character. Early drafts of the first Star Wars film gave Luke the last name of Starkiller, which was later changed to Skywalker. The term was later used in The Force Awakens. Starkiller Base was the infamous site of confrontation between Kylo Ren and Han Solo.
Starkiller’s Legacy Event unlocks on December 15, 2021.
