Daisy Ridley instantly captivated Star Wars audiences and fans the moment she first appeared as Rey in The Force Awakens in 2015. While the actor has been relatively quiet since the final film in the sequel trilogy The Rise of Skywalker was released, she is now taking on even bigger filmmaking roles as her career continues to grow and diversify.

This week Digital Spy reported that Ridley is producing and starring in Somethings I Think About Dying, an indie drama film that has reportedly already wrapped filming.

This is not the first film Ridley has appeared in since her Star Wars debut, but it’s her biggest job to date with her additional producing responsibilities.

The movie tells the story of, as its title suggests, a woman who frequently thinks about death. It’s all fine and good to contemplate your own mortality on a semi-regular basis – we’re all human here. But it’s not so easy to constantly think about dying when you suddenly find yourself falling in love with your co-worker. Oops?

At this time, no other cast members have been announced. But if you’re hoping to see more of Ridley before the film premieres, you can catch her alongside Star Wars actor Ben Mendelsohn in The Marsh King’s Daughter, currently set for a 2022 release.

Ridley has a promising career ahead of her, and fans are excited to see her explore different genres and even different roles in front of as well as behind the camera. From Rey’s iconic TFA introduction to that final Skywalker moment in 2019, in just three movies she proved Star Wars will not be the last time we see her shine.

If you’re curious and have never seen Ridley outside of the Star Wars franchise, you can also find her in films such as Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and Chaos Walking (2021).
