Ah yes, Disney is notorious for keeping secrets, and something as big as the upcoming Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett wouldn’t be any different. Actor Jennifer Beals from the TV series Swamp Thing and The L Word recently spoke to Variety about the kind of Star Wars secrecy she found herself in.
While she knew about the character she was playing, a Twi’lek, she was quoted saying, “I didn’t realize I was in The Book of Boba Fett. I just knew that I was getting to be part of this story.”
For those unfamiliar, according to Wookieepedia, Twi’leks, “sometimes referred to derogatorily as Tail-Heads or Twi’s, occasionally referred to as Rylothians, were a tall near-human species whose most striking feature was a pair of long appendages protruding from their skulls, called lekku.”
We’ve seen several Twi’leks make appearances in the Star Wars universe such as Bib Fortuna, Lyn Me, and Aayla Secura. Believe it or not, Return of the Jedi was the first time Twi’lek’s appeared in Star Wars and they were first mentioned by name in The Star Wars Sourcebook.
What can we expect from Jennifer Beals’ character in the upcoming Star Wars Disney Plus series The Book of Boba Fett?
Will Beals’s character be someone brand new to the franchise or will she be somehow related to the likes of someone like Bib Fortuna?
Of course, Beals is keeping her lips sealed on other details about The Book of Boba Fett. But luckily fans won’t have to wait too long as the Disney Plus series premieres on December 29, 2021.
Who do you think Jennifer Beals is playing? Do you think we’ll see more Twi’lek characters in The Book of Boba Fett?
