The countdown to The Book of Boba Fett is now in the single digits. The more info we don’t get about the upcoming Star Wars project closing in on its release, the more excitement for the series and all that lies within it builds. Interviews with the show’s creators suggest we’ll see more familiar characters than just Boba Fett himself.

Star Wars storytelling extraordinaire Dave Filoni recently told The Hollywood Reporter: “Boba gives us a direct connection to the Star Wars saga since he was involved in that story…This creates a nice crossover point for both classic characters and new characters.”

Director Robert Rodriguez also told the outlet: “Things turn up you don’t expect, you see things we couldn’t believe we got to do… Every episode has big surprises.”

That combined with the fact that we’ve barely seen any Book of Boba Fett footage in the trailers released so far has to mean there’s definitely something big coming. A Baby Yoda kind of big. A “we digitally removed something from this one single shot to not spoil the surprise” kind of bombshell.

In response to this interview, Inverse made several predictions, including the possibility of seeing young Han Solo and Lando Calrissian during a flashback.

The series could go with the expected character guest appearances, such as Din Djarin or even Grogu. But the potential for flashbacks, or the show telling stories from different points in the timeline overall, opens up an entirely new realm of possibilities. We could see other familiar bounty hunters from Boba’s past. Maybe we’ll get a Darth Vader reference or two at the very least.

Star Wars fans are unanimously convinced that there’s something bigger going on in this show than the synopses and trailers are telling us. There’s only a week left to find out what the show’s first episode is hiding.
