The Book of Boba Fett got off to a strong start with its series premiere episode, “Stranger in a Strange Land.”

As showrunner and director Robert Rodriguez made clear to The Hollywood Reporter, the promo the public had scene leading up to the premiere had merely been a glimpse of half the footage from the first episode.

It was an exciting tidbit of information that promised a debut for the series that would leave fans enraptured, mainly because Rodriguez said, “We can’t use the second half of the first episode because it gives so much away.”

What they did give away in the trailer, however, did leave fans wondering who Jennifer Beals would be playing in the Disney+ original Star Wars series.

The actress appeared as a Twi’lek but the brief sighting of her provided little information on who she could be playing. Both her character’s name and her role in The Book of Boba Fett had been kept under wraps. Now that the show has premiered, we finally know who Beals plays.

Who is Garsa Fwip in The Book of Boba Fett?

Spoilers ahead of The Book of Boba Fett episode 1

Beals makes her first appearance in “Stranger in a Strange Land.” She is Garsa Fwip, the woman who runs the Sanctuary, a cantina in Mos Espa.

Now that Boba Fett has taken over the territory, the establishment is his. He pays Garsa a visit in-person in order to assure her the Sanctuary will run successfully under his leadership as it had been prior to his take over.

Unlike Mayor Shaiz, Garsa takes the command change in stride though it’s clear she doesn’t quite know what to make of Boba Fett. He is now a lord, but he doesn’t act as she expects. While we’re only with Garsa for a short time, she does come off as a character who eyes the whole board before making a move.

She supplies Boba and Fennec Shand with their due tribute and sends them on their way. However, that’s likely not the last we’ll see of her or the Sanctuary as the series goes on.
