There’s nothing Star Wars fans love more than announcements. And rumors of potential announcements. And the announcement of events in which Star Wars announcements may or may not occur. Anytime Disney+ is set to make announcements, everyone holds their breath, as we’re all doing right now.
Disney+ will present at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour 2021 on Friday, January 14. No mention of any Star Wars content specifically has been made. But because there is so much Star Wars content expected to release on the platform this year, it would be surprising to not get something related to a galaxy far, far away.
This year alone, it’s been confirmed that Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and the second season of The Bad Batch will all drop on Disney+ at some point, though no release dates have been announced. This is all in addition to The Book of Boba Fett continuing the remainder of its first season over the next few months.
Not many fans are expecting the announcement of new content. Release dates are much more likely than anything else, especially at an event that isn’t even primarily Disney-focused as a whole. Even Disney+ Day 2021 was slightly lacking in Star Wars news compared to what fans were expecting.
There’s absolutely no guarantee that the presentation will yield Star Wars-related announcements — Star Wars is only one segment of a constantly growing realm of content on the popular streaming platform. But last year’s TCA Winter Press Tour included the official release date of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which ended up premiering on May 4, 2021. Side note: May 4, 2022 is on a Wednesday. So it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to release the premiere episode of a new show that day … perhaps one about a space wizard stranded in the desert.
But, you know. No guarantees.
