The Book of Boba Fett just aired its fourth episode, titled Chapter Four “The Gathering Storm” and with it, Boba has been completely healed thanks to the bacta tank. We’ve seen these bacta tanks being used in the Star Wars universe but what exactly are they?
We’ve seen and heard about bacta tanks several times before. They first appeared in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and since then have been this source of healing for several characters including Darth Vader.
Wookieepedia explains bacta tanks to be, “a cylindrical tank into which a being could be submerged for extensive exposure to bacta, a fluid that could accelerate healing and treat major injuries.” Conveniently enough, the portable version of bacta tanks are called a bacta pod.
A bacta pod seems to be what Boba Fett was using every day to heal the injuries he most likely sustained from the sarlacc pit. As we noticed, he looked horrid upon escaping death and the Disney Plus series used his time healing in the bacta pod for key flashbacks such as his time with the Tusken Raiders and meeting Fennec Shand.
What are these bacta tanks that characters like Boba Fett use in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett?
However now that he is healed and no longer needs the bacta pod, will we be seeing more flashbacks? We have yet to see how Boba Fett gets his armor back.
We have yet to see how he even finds Mandalorian Din Djarin. Boba Fett may be healed but how much longer until that bacta pod is used once again?
For now, we can admire this unique and creative invention that has saved many lives including Luke Skywalker’s.
