Warning! Spoilers ahead for this week’s episode of The Book of Boba Fett, “The Gathering Storm.”

The much anticipated first spinoff of The Mandalorian, featuring one of Star Wars’ most iconic characters of all time, has, at last, arrived on Disney+.

Last week’s episode hinted at the overarching conflict Boba will face as he fights for his territory as daimyo against the Pyke Syndicate. This week’s episode joined the past and present timelines, revealing the full story behind Boba and Fennec’s partnership.

Brains and Brawn

“The Gathering Storm” joined the past and present timelines by giving us the full backstory of Boba and Fennec’s relationship, showing us how he saved her life and her choice to stay with him beyond after she repaid her life debt to him.

After losing the Tuskens, Boba seems to have learned that he can’t go it alone and needs someone, if not a full family, at his side. While Fennec is an incredible gunslinger, Boba also values her strategy and intelligence, making the two equal partners in Boba’s new enterprise as daimyo.

Together, Boba and Fennec arrange a meeting of the area crime families to ask for their support in the war against the Pykes, and while no one offers their allegiance, they do agree to remain neutral.

A Familiar Face?

After the meeting with the families, Bob and Fennec regroup to strategize. Fennec assures Boba they can find muscle for their cause if they’re willing to pay and a brief cue of The Mandalorian theme plays as the episode ends.

Based on the music, and Boba and Fennec’s direct appeal for more hands on deck, it seems likely next week’s episode will see a crossover with a character from The Mandalorian.

Whether it’s Din Djarin himself, or another Mandalorian like Bo Katan or Koska Reeves, remains to be seen, but the guest appearance may also hint at what’s next for season three of The Mandalorian.
