Big Brother legend has a cameo in The Book of Boba Fett
Episode 4 of The Book of Boba Fett features a cameo from Big Brother legend Dr. Will Kirby. He is best known for winning season 2 of Big Brother and is admired for his uniquely strategic gameplay that forever changed the reality television competition.
According to Us Weekly, Kirby has been a Star Wars fan ever since he was a child, making his cameo in “The Gathering Storm” all the sweeter.
His character can be spotted at Madam Garsa Fwip’s Sanctuary in Mos Espa. When speaking with Us Weekly, Kirby said his character is a “handsome, wealthy, now retired, former bounty hunter who enjoys his days gambling and drinking in Madam Garsa Fwip’s establishment.”
This character’s personality aligns well with Kirby’s personality on Big Brother. He has always prided himself on his handsome appearance and his ability to charm others. Seeing him flirt with a Twi’lek in the Sanctuary feels exactly like something he would do.
Kirby’s costume completes his description of the character, a costume that has close ties to the Star Wars prequels: “I had lavish kimonos, opulent capes, magnificent obis, and if you look closely you’ll notice that most of it was repurposed from original Episode II: Attack of The Clones costumes that have been in storage in England for nearly two decades!”
Fans have loved seeing details from the prequels being incorporated into the live-action shows on Disney+, with this being a particularly fun prequel-era Easter egg.
His character can also be seen looking concerned as he watches Black Krrsantan attack one of the Trandoshans in the Sanctuary.
While this is probably just a fun cameo that won’t have any bearing on the rest of The Book of Boba Fett, Kirby did say, “I have to be careful to not accidentally spoiling anything, but I was naturally blown away to be in the presence of Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.”
It is worth noting that Fennec Shand does not appear in the Sanctuary scene in Episode 4. It is possible that Kirby’s retired bounty hunter character could appear in a scene at the Sanctuary featuring Boba and Fennec in a future episode.
Even if he doesn’t show up again in The Book of Boba Fett, plenty of background characters in Star Wars have become more fleshed out and prominent over time. The bounty hunters who appear alongside Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back are a great example of this, as characters like Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, 4-Lom, and Zuckuss went from being in the background and not saying anything to being explored in numerous canon and Legends stories.
Furthermore, Max Rebo was a background character in Return of the Jedi, and now he has appeared in every scene at the Sanctuary in The Book of Boba Fett, and Garsa Fwip even addressed him by name in the latest episode.
With Kirby’s character being a successful former bounty hunter, he may even have history with Boba Fett, Fennec Shand, or the aforementioned other bounty hunters introduced in The Empire Strikes Back.
Whether or not audiences ever see him in Star Wars again, it is a delightful and unexpected cameo, especially for Big Brother fans.
