Sebastian Stan, also known as the hobbit-loving Winter Soldier, has long been a fan-favorite to join the Star Wars galaxy., according to IndieWire. Recent interviews hint at his possible entry, especially as Luke Skywalker increases in importance.

Many fans have been fan-casting Sebastian Stan as Luke Skywalker after the CGI fiasco at the end of The Mandolarin Season 2, and just now might be his time to step into the galaxy.

During Sebastian Stan’s appearance on Good Morning America Sebastian said: “Well, if Mark Hamill calls me personally to tell me that he feels inclined to share this role with me, then I’ll believe it,” Stan said. “Until then, I won’t believe it.”

This quote came in March of 2021, but Hamill himself had already made the connection himself. Mark Hamill himself has tweeted that “Sebastian doesn’t need my stamp of approval! He’s a wonderful actor and is never less than great in everything he does.”

in 2018. All of this seems to be an indication that Hamill supports Sebastian.

If it is true that all Sebastian needs is Hamill’s permission, then in theory Sebastian has all he needs. Not only that but because of his contract with Marvel we know that Sebastian will still be working for Disney in the future. Sebastian certainly would not be the first actor or actress to be able to switch from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the Star Wars universe and vice-versa.

With the need for Luke Skywalker in live-action seeming to continue to grow, casting an amazing actor like Sebastian Stan would be a smart move for the future of Star Wars. Sebastian seems willing to take the part, and even recent experience with the advanced Deepfake level Computer Generated Images seems to just not be quite right.

A real actor could not only increase the level of acting ability but quite possibly lower the production time as well. Hopefully, we get more confirmations in the future but for now, all we can do is speculate.
