This post contains spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett “Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger.”

Continuing with the trend of Disney not wanting to create new lightsabers, we see that another lost lightsaber has been found. At the end of the last episode of The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu is presented with the gifted Beskar chainmail and Yoda’s lightsaber. These are presented by Luke as almost a choice between the Jedi Order and his surrogate father, Din Djarin also known as The Mandalorian.

Previous to this, Star Wars canon told us that Yoda’s lightsaber had been destroyed. According to the Darth Vader comics, after Order 66 all of the lightsabers of the fallen Jedi were collected and then put into a furnace to be destroyed.

The comic specifically shows Yoda’s lightsaber, presumably picked up from the floor of the Senate, in the hands of Mas Amedda to be thrown into the furnace. When they light the furnace, unaware of the Kyber crystals inside, it causes a large explosion that rocks the square that they were located in.

The question now is “what happened during this comic?” There is a possibility that Dave Filoni has once again rewritten Star Wars canon, just as he did with the first episode of The Bad Batch with Caleb Dume’s backstory.

For now, all we can do is speculate on what will happen with the Vader comics, and hope some more information will be released about how Luke got ahold of Yoda’s lightsaber.

One possibility is that Darth Sidious kept the lightsaber in one of his many vaults. During part of the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 campaign, we saw Luke looking for the Pillio Star Compass that eventually lead him to the first Jedi Temple that we saw at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Luke may have found a myriad of other treasures in those vaults. In the Legends storylines, we have seen a vast amount of untapped force treasures stored by Palpatine for later use, and the symbol of his victory other the Jedi could very well qualified for such a lofty end.
