Lucasfilm has a good history with animated TV series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. There have been several rumors lately about additional animated shows to supplement The Bad Batch in the Star Wars universe.

Recently some evidence has come to support the theory that Star Wars: Lost Stars will be the next animated film in Lucasfilm’s arsenal.

The publisher describes the book as

"The reign of the Galactic Empire has reached the Outer Rim planet of Jelucan, where aristocratic Thane Kyrell and rural villager Ciena Ree bond over their love of flying. Enrolling at the Imperial Academy together to become fighter pilots for the glorious Empire is nothing less than a dream come true for the both of them. But Thane sours on the dream when he sees firsthand the horrific tactics the Empire uses to maintain its ironclad rule.Bitter and disillusioned, Thane joins the fledgling Rebellion — putting Ciena in an unbearable position to choose between her loyalty to the Empire and her love for the man she’s known since childhood. Now on opposite sides of the war, will these friends turned foes find a way to be together, or will duty tear them — and the galaxy — apart?"

As the description clearly shows, the book is set from the Rise of the Rebellion to the Fall of the Empire. This is a formative time of the galaxy, and we have already seen one show during this time in Star Wars: Rebels.

This sets up the possibility of seeing some returning characters such as Hera Syndeulla, but it may just strictly follow the book narrative.

The support for this rumor comes from the fact that Icon Creative Studios started recruiting for a new project at the beginning of 2022.

Icon Studios has agreed to work on an undisclosed project with Lucasfilm in the future and several bits of information lead us to believe that this new project will be Star Wars Lost Stars.
