Despite previous reports that The Mandalorian Season 3 would not be premiering in 2022, some sources are speculating it will release this holiday season.
TV Line stated earlier today: “It is a safe bet that Season 3 will premiere this year, probably around Life Day Christmastime.” No official confirmation from Lucasfilm or those involved in the project is currently available. However, many have assumed we would get another chapter in “the Mandalorian story” after Mandalorian Season 2 ending in December 2020 and The Book of Boba Fett arriving a year later at the tail end of 2021.
In a sizzle reel released to announce the shows and movies coming to Disney+ in 2022, Star Wars: Andor was among the titles officially confirmed for the year. However, The Mandalorian Season 3 was not on the list. This added to the already present lineup that presently includes The Bad Batch Season 2 as well as the Obi-Wan Kenobi event series
We’ve gotten more of Din Djarin’s story in The Book of Boba Fett than we were expecting, which at this time seems to be setting up Mando’s next installment with Luke forcing Grogu to choose his own path and Din agreeing to help Boba Fett stand against the Pyke Syndicate.
With The Book of Boba Fett distributing its seventh and presumed final episode tomorrow, Star Wars fans are expecting some kind of announcement for what’s to come next. Realizing that Book of Boba is another chapter in the same story as The Mandalorian, so to speak, has opened up speculation that other characters will get their own “books.” But nothing has been confirmed, and there is already a lot of Star Wars coming to. Disney+ this year.
Until more official sources confirm these Season 3 rumors, speculate with caution.
