This post contains SPOILERS for The Book of Boba Fett “Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor.”
The number of deaths in The Book of Boba Fett significantly increased after last week’s explosive conclusion. Thankfully, Cobb Vanth didn’t turn out to be one of this turf war’s casualties.
The Book of Boba Fett “Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor” confirmed what many suspected: Cobb Vanth survived his encounter with Cad Bane. But barely, at least according to his final scene in the series.
The people of Freetown largely still believed their marshall wasn’t coming back during the final showdown with the Pykes. However, Chapter 7’s post-credits scene revealed that Vanth, much like Fennec Shand, was still alive. And, also like Shand, he was about to get some major upgrades.
In Chapter 6, it appeared as though Vanth suffered a shot to the shoulder, implying he wouldn’t need something as extensive as a long full-body bacta soak to fully heal. Yet that’s where we found him at the tail end of the episode. He either suffered more extensive injuries than we realized at the hands of Bane … or he specifically asked for modifications.
Either way, we finally know for sure that Vanth didn’t suffer fatal injuries after his encounter. And the focus on him in this episode’s post-credits scene implies he’ll play a larger role in other Star Wars stories moving forward.
Cobb Vanth will be back — at least judging by his appearance at the very end of this series. And if not him specifically, perhaps the mods in general have a future in Star Wars lore beyond Tatooine. There’s no other reason to end with that tease … unless it implies there could be someone else still alive we haven’t even seen yet.
The Book of Boba Fett is streaming now exclusively on Disney+.
