The highly-anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series is coming to Disney+ this May, and its star, Ewan McGregor, is already hinting at what’s in store for the Star Wars limited series.

McGregor teased in a recent interview with Forbes that he and Christensen specifically filmed scenes together as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

“I think it’s no secret that Hayden Christensen comes back,” he said, “and we got to play scenes together again as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and it was just fantastic to work with him again.”

Previously, it was strictly implied that Christensen would return as Darth Vader exclusively. This led Star Wars fans to believe there might be a confrontation between Obi-Wan and Vader in the series in real-time. However, McGregor’s comment suggests there could be flashbacks to Obi-Wan and Anakin’s days as generals in the Clone Wars.

It has been over 15 years now since we have seen Anakin and Obi-Wan together on screen played by Christensen and McGregor specifically. They were voiced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars by Matt Lanter and James Arnold Taylor.

McGregor also discussed what it was like to play Obi-Wan again after the prequels, which brought many fans to the franchise despite the original trilogy beginning in the 1970s.

“to step back into his shoes again now and do a series, a whole series about Obi-Wan Kenobi for those fans, it just makes me really happy,” he said. “I loved playing him again.”

There are dozens of ways even just one scene between Obi-Wan and Anakin — McGregor and Christensen — could play out. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see how things really go down.

Obi-Wan Kenobi directed by Deborah Chow stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader … or Anakin Skywalker, or both. The limited series, slated for six episodes, will premiere this May.
