Warning: There are SPOILERS ahead for The Book of Boba Fett

Din Djarin won the Darksaber from Moff Gideon in the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian. When Din returned in The Book of Boba Fett, he continued to wield the Darksaber and maintained his claim over it, even when challenged in combat by fellow Mandalorian Paz Vizsla.

Yet, there is no denying that Din has not mastered his control over the Darksaber. He accidentally stabs himself with the Darksaber when fighting off some Klatooinians. Even when sparring with the Armorer he struggles to use the weapon.

“Return of the Mandalorian” and the finale “In the Name of Honor” did a good job of showing how fighting with the Darksaber does not come naturally to Din. The Armorer said that Din is fighting against the blade and Din said it feels heavier with each swing.

Din is a skilled warrior who has no problem wielding melee weapons. The issue is that he has not connected with the Darksaber yet. It is not yet an extension of himself and without that connection of mind, spirit, and energy, Din’s claim over the Darksaber will not last.

The question is who will help Din better master the weapon that can unite all Mandalorians. Since the Armorer has cast Din out of her covert until he “redeems” himself, these are some other individuals who can train him.

Sabine Wren

As a Mandalorian who had to learn how to connect with and wield the Darksaber, Sabine is arguably the best candidate to teach Din. The excellent Star Wars Rebels episode “Trials of the Darksaber” shows that like Din, Sabine struggled to connect with the Darksaber.

Also like Din, she is an excellent warrior able to utilize a variety of weaponry, yet she was her own worst enemy getting in the way of her potential. Sabine can be for Din what Kanan Jarrus was for her.

Deadline previously reported that Natasha Liu Bordizzo was cast as Sabine for the Ahsoka series. Given the high level of connectivity between The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and The Book of Boba Fett, Sabine could feasibly make her live-action debut in season 3 of The Mandalorian before taking on a larger role in Ahsoka. There is also the possibility that Din will meet her in Ahsoka.

Ahsoka Tano

Din Djarin and Ahsoka Tano know each other fairly well at this point. They worked well together on Corvus in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka knew Din well enough to help him make the right choice when he came to see Grogu in The Book of Boba Fett.

Ahsoka has shown that she cares about him and Grogu, their bond, and doing what is best for both of them. Ahsoka’s relationship with Din, her abilities with a lightsaber, and her deep connection with the Force make her well-suited to help Din with the Darksaber.

Just as the Jedi Kanan Jarrus helped the Mandalorian Sabine Wren better wield and connect with the Darksaber, Ahsoka can help the Mandalorian Din Djarin do the same, and she will do it in a way that has Din and Grogu’s best interests at heart. This could occur in The Mandalorian or Ahsoka series.

Grogu

Between his natural abilities and the training he received from Luke Skywalker, Grogu is stronger and wiser than ever before when it comes to the Force. This was most powerfully shown in The Book of Boba Fett finale when Grogu used the Force to calm the rancor down and put it to sleep, using the balance within himself to bring balance to the rancor.

Din’s best teacher may be right beside him. Grogu may have chosen the Mandalorian path over the Jedi path, but both are part of his identity. A Mandalorian foundling with Jedi training is arguably the perfect individual to teach Din how to wield and connect with a weapon forged by a Mandalorian Jedi.

Grogu teaching Din would also make for some inevitably humorous and adorable dynamics. Din has taught Grogu many valuable lessons and it would feel fitting to see Grogu become the teacher in this case.
