2022 is shaping up to be quite the year for Star Wars video games. With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga just months away, it’s beyond exciting to have yet another game, Star Wars: Hunters, also on the horizon.
Zynga and Lucasfilm Games just announced a new game mode, maps, and characters to be added to the game prior to its launch. Players will be able to interact with the experience in ways that weren’t possible before.
Star Wars: Hunters is a competitive, team-based action arena game that allows players to battle with a vast array of Star Wars characters. The experience is built for mobile devices as well as the Nintendo Switch and is still in development.
The game’s developers just announced new characters such as Hunter Skora, a healer, and Sprocket, who uses a band of droids to attack enemies. Newly announced arena maps include The Great Hunt and Dusty Ridge.
The game also announced the return of Huttball, first introduced in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Huttball is a galaxy far, far away’s version of a sport where one team has to bring a ball to the opposing side of the playing field. Except it’s Star Wars, so obviously cheating and violence aren’t penalized. Fun!
According to the official announcement:
"Set after the fall of the Galactic Empire, Star Wars: Hunters will connect teams of four players in real time to battle in arena settings inspired by iconic Star Wars locales. Players will compete as daring bounty hunters, heroes of the Rebellion and holdouts of the fallen Empire in an action game that immerses players in fast-paced and visually stunning Star Wars conflict."
Players can register for Star Wars: Hunters right now to unlock exclusive in-game content on launch day. Hunters will support cross-play on different platforms and will be available to download in the App Store, Google Play, and the Nintendo Switch very soon.
Star Wars: Hunters will release later in 2022.
