Han Solo: Conspicuously absent from The Book of Boba Fett
Han Solo is one of the most foundational characters in all of Star Wars. The recent episodes of The Book of Boba Fett bring in several big-name characters such as Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.
Other important characters such as Han Solo or Leia Organa had massive roles on the Rise of the New Republic during the Legends timeline. Even the newer Star Wars movies have Ben Solo (Kylo Ren) as the main antagonist throughout all three of the movies, but still, Han and Leia seem noticeably absent from the story.
Disney has recently announced that they will be releasing a prequel story for Han Solo in the novel “Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel.” This is certainly exciting news, but after the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story it seems rather odd that we can’t see Han Solo when we have two actors who have already played the character.
As for The Book of Boba Fett, Han Solo has plenty of connections there as well. Solo was a prisoner in Jabba’s Palace, a smuggler of Jabba’s criminal empire, and had previous run-ins with the Pyke Syndicate in the past. With Han’s habit to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong, plus his occasional spats with the Princess herself, it’s not unforeseeable he could be on Tatooine at the same time.
Or even more likely, he could be visiting Luke while he is building the temple.
That swashbuckling scoundrel would be a perfect cameo with connections to the underworld. Whether it be a gambling debt he should have paid, a deal that went south, or just a random event Han Solo definitely should have been in The Book of Boba Fett. We could have had a fully matured Han Solo giving us the background of his feuding relationship with Princess Leia, and how his children grow up. In Legends, Boba Fett even trained the Solo kids.
Maybe we will see more of Han Solo in the next season of The Mandalorian that will even set up some Legends material.
The Book of Boba Fett is streaming now exclusively on Disney+.
