Star Wars fans can still book a Galactic Starcruiser stay this summer
By Meg Dowell
The more Disney reveals about its Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, the deeper the divide between fans continues to grow. Some are all for it — if they can afford it. Others find the high price tag and two-day stay unreasonable — perhaps even irresponsible.
Despite widespread reports of reservation cancelations, WDWMAGIC.com reveals that exclusive spots are now opening up for the fall. March through June are either booked or have limited reservations still available, while July through September are still wide open.
Certain potential guests, including Club 33 members and Golden Oak residents, can now also secure their stays for the month of October 2022.
The Galactic Starcruiser officially opens its doors on March 1, 2022 to those with previous reservations, just a week after Disney invited guests to experience and review the so-called “Star Wars hotel” prior to opening day.
The 48-hour experience includes everything from meals to lightsaber training to a special trip to Galaxy’s Edge, complete with a full cast of characters and an immersive experience unlike any other.
The Starcruiser has been a point of controversy among fans ever since its estimated price points were released. On average, guests can expect to drop about $5,000 to experience the Starcruiser, well above what many consider to be a luxury they can or are willing to pay for. Many reviewers thus far have said the price tag is worth every penny, though the first-of-its-kind experience is by no means perfect.
Over the decades, Star Wars has come up with numerous ways to immerse its fans in its unique universe. From events like Star Wars Celebration to video games specifically created for virtual reality, and most recently Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Parks, there are plenty of ways to experience Star Wars without the Galactic Starcrusier.
If one day you do make it there, it will no doubt be a voyage you’ll never forget. But if you don’t, that’s OK too. Star Wars is for everyone, and the various ways to incorporate it into our real lives are practically endless. The Starcruiser experience is a dream. While not a feasible reality for everyone, those who do get to see it firsthand are simply seeing a galaxy far, far away in a new and different way. There will be many new, unique experiences to come. Disney will no doubt make sure of that.
