The Bad Batch season 2 is one the Star Wars shows expected to make their land on Disney+ in 2022.

The animated series, which is a spin-off of The Clone Wars, follows the Bad Batch, a group of clone mercenaries who manage to ignore Order 66. Or at least all but one do. Unfortunately, their brother-in-arms, Crosshair, winds up working for the Empire.

Despite this, the Bad Batch forge on with their newest and smallest member, Omega. The young girl is talented in her own right but still just a child caught in an ever evolving conflict. Over the course of 16 episodes, Omega and the guns for hire, affectionately referred to as the Dad Batch by fans, figure out their place in the new world order.

After the success of the first season, The Bad Batch was greenlit for a season 2. Previously, thanks to a leaked copy of Star Wars Insider, the expectation was that the new season would make its premiere in spring 2022 but according to The Direct, that may have changed.

The Bad Batch season 2 release update

In their report, The Direct references another leaked copy of Star Wars Insider where The Bad Batch season 2 isn’t shown as coming in the spring but rather as coming soon. Their source is reddit user BZPJMJ64.

The Bad Batch missing a spring release window makes sense in light of the recent announcement that the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series will be premiering on May 25. While Disney+ still could reunite viewers with Hunter and the gang sometime before that show’s debut, it’s unlikely.

The Bad Batch season 2 would be a great buffer between the Obi-Wan series and Andor which is expected in the fall, so we have our sights set on a summer debut for the animated series.
