Rumor: Temuera Morrison will be in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series
By Sabrina Reed
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres May 25 on Disney+. The series comes in the wake of The Book of Boba Fett which similarly returns Star Wars fans to the world of a well-beloved character. While our time with the bounty hunter turned daimyo is over, it seems we may be seeing Temuera Morrison again earlier than anyone would have expected.
The actor, who has played both Jango and Boba Fett, is rumored to be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming Star Wars series focused on Obi-Wan’s time guarding Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. This rumor, however, isn’t due to an image leak or a sly choice of words in an interview by someone attached to Obi-Wan Kenobi.
If he’s in the show, not even Morrison has let this cameo slip. The rumor boils down to a pair of sharp eyes that caught some interesting moments in the recently released trailer for the series.
Here’s what we know!
Who could Temuera Morrison play in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Inverse reports that a shot of a beat up Clone Trooper uniform and a closer look at who the Grand Inquisitor is confronting in the trailer makes the case for a potential cameo by Morrison. However, it’s not likely that he’d be appearing as Boba Fett since the character would be a young man in the timeline of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Instead, Inverse posits that he may portray Echo because of what appear to be cybernetic ports on his neck.
If so, this will be the character’s live-action debut. Echo was first introduced in The Clone Wars and has since become a part of Clone Force 99 in The Bad Batch. While Morrison’s cameo hasn’t been substantiated, it would be cool to see him grace our screens once again. Not to mention Echo would be a nice choice considering his animated series returns sometime in 2022 for its second season.
