Fans are going to have to wait slightly longer for the debut of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus as the Obi-Wan Kenobi release date has shifted.

In a surprising move by the streaming giant, it has been announced that Disney Plus’s highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series will no longer be debuting on the streaming service on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Instead, the series is on the move to a new date, but the good news is fans won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the series on Disney Plus!

Obi-Wan Kenobi release date

On March 31, Disney Plus announced a new Obi-Wan Kenobi release date in a video spot featuring star Ewan McGregor. Rather than debuting the series on May 25, Obi-Wan Kenobi will instead arrive on Disney Plus on Friday, May 27, 2022.

While no explanation has been provided as to why Disney has decided to move the show’s release date back by a few days, there is some good news for Star Wars fans which should help offset the disappointment of having to wait two more days for the show’s premiere.

When announcing the series’ new release date, McGregor also shared that fans will be able to enjoy the first two episodes of the series on May 27! That’s right, on May 27, Disney Plus subscribers will be able to view the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi rather than just the premiere as originally planned.

Check out McGregor’s announcement video below for the full scoop on the new release strategy for Obi-Wan Kenobi:

Although the series will now debut on a Friday, it does appear Disney Plus will still release new episodes weekly on Wednesdays instead of moving the show fully to Fridays.

In a press release from StarWars.com, it was confirmed that subsequent episodes will debut each Wednesday. As such,  fans should expect episode 3 to arrive on Wednesday, June 1.
