Rumor: Jedi: Fallen Order sequel details to be announced during Star Wars Celebration
By Toni Green
Star Wars Celebration’s looming arrival is bringing with it a flurry of speculation and rumors surrounding upcoming Star Wars projects. One such project, originally announced by video game studio EA this past January, is the upcoming sequel to 2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order.
According to insider Jeff Grubb, fans should expect to hear something as early as during Celebration, which will be taking place in Anaheim, CA from May 26-29.
Grubb also shared that it appears that we may see the currently untitled Fallen Order 2 be released towards the beginning of 2023, however that is still just speculation based on other release dates for the studio.
The original game followed Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who had survived Order 66 by making a new life as a scrapper on the junk planet, Bracca. Kestis, played by actor Cameron Monaghan, sees his life uprooted once again with the arrival of the Second Sister, a Sith Inquisitor under the command of Darth Vader.
Together with former Jedi Cere Junda, Cal sets out on a mission to locate a Holocron filled with the names of Force-sensitive children in hopes of rebuilding the decimated Jedi Order. The journey spans several planets including Dathomir, Kashyyyk, and Ilum, where players were able to delve into more lore about the Empire’s cruelty, the magic and tragedy of the Nightsisters, and the future home of Starkiller Base. Cal and the crew of the Mantis ended their story with a spark of hope that players would get to meet them once more.
While this is still speculation and should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt, the timing of these rumors coming alongside last week’s release of the Cal Kestis legacy lightsaber at Galaxy’s Edge in the U.S. Disney Parks is surely worth noting. This fan-favorite saber was chosen during a poll in 2020 and has finally seen its release, with Monaghan visiting Black Spire Outpost to pose in promotional images with his character’s trademark weapon. Could this mean that we’ll see him back in costume as Cal sooner rather than later?
