For decades, Star Wars comics and collectible figures have occupied the shelves of fans everywhere. Now the two are coming together with a line of figures based on some classic and more recent comics — including one inspired by Princess Leia.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lucasfilm, Hasbro announced last year that its Black Series line of figures would be releasing comic book-inspired models from fan-favorite Star Wars comics. Its Princess Leia figure and several other additions went up for pre-order last week.

This Leia figure is modeled after one of the character’s looks in Princess Leia (2015), a comic miniseries written by Mark Waid with art by Terry Dodson. The comic centers on Leia in the wake of Alderaan’s destruction and deals with her processing the loss of her homeworld, something A New Hope didn’t offer her a lot of room to do when it was released.

The box art on Leia’s figure reflects Dodson’s comic cover art, making it easy and aesthetically pleasing to display alongside the other Black Series figures in the same line.

Other Star Wars comics-inspired releases announced so far include Darth Vader and Sergeant Kreel.

Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series figures include a variety of releases every year — everything from anniversary character figures to brand-new figures inspired by the latest Disney+ shows. The Vintage Collection, another line of 3.75-inch figures, has released a variety of fan-favorite characters with plenty more on the way. Chances are, if you have a favorite Star Wars character, there will eventually be at least one Black Series figure of them.

Perhaps with the release of comics-inspired figures, Star Wars book-exclusive figures aren’t too far behind.

Leia and other figures in this Black Series line are available for pre-order now and are expected to release in Spring 2023.
