The Disney+ exclusive Obi-Wan Kenobi series will release its limited number of episodes slightly later than originally announced. But the series is now just over a month away, and it’s looking like the actors involved are just as pumped for release day as the rest of us.

A recent interview with Hey U Guys revealed that Rupert Friend is just as excited for fans to see the show as fans are to experience it for the first time. The actor, who will play the Grand Inquisitor in the show, hinted that fans can expect to see some familiar faces in addition to the returning actors already announced.

“If it’s possible to be any more excited than folks already are, I would be,” Friend said. “I think it is one of the most thrilling additions to the Star Wars canon. I think Ewan McGregor is doing things with that role that is a dream for fans of the original films. You know, we can’t obviously have Alec Guinness back, but I just think Ewan was absolutely born to play that part. And wonderful cameos from people I obviously can’t tell you, but Easter eggs galore.”

When Friend talks about cameos above, he might be referring to actual cameos — very small glimpses of a character that sometimes go unnoticed on a first watch of a movie or show. But he could also be referring to guest appearances, which are not the same thing as cameos. When an actor or character has a guest role in a TV series, they usually have lines and play a big enough role that the scene or scenes they’re in wouldn’t exist without them.

Either of these possibilities means we could see familiar characters wandering around Tatooine we never expected to see again … or that we never expected to see on-screen at all. Hmm …

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor with appearances by Hayden Christensen and Kumail Nanjiani and is directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. The series is set to premiere May 27, 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
