Of the anniversaries Star Wars fans celebrate every year, Star Wars Day — May the Fourth, or May 4 — might be the most highly anticipated. It’s also the one fans hold to the highest standards in terms of franchise-specific announcements and product releases. Thus, it’s no surprise that many are expecting another Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer on that day this year.

Past May the Fourth celebrations have been filled with all kinds of announcements, premieres, and more. The final episode of The Clone Wars aired on Disney+ on May 4, 2020, and the first episode of The Bad Batch dropped on the same day in 2021.

With no new shows premiering on May 4 this year — aside from Disney Gallery: The Book of Boba Fett — many fans are expecting some kind of big announcement or trailer. to hold them over until the Disney+ drop. Will they get their wish?

We’ve only gotten one trailer for the series so far, and we’re about a month out from the two-episode premiere on Disney+ at the end of May. But that pretty much tracks with the marketing schedule for The Book of Boba Fett, which released one teaser several months before and mostly short TV spots after that.

Chances are, any additional trailers that are released won’t reveal much more about the show. Plenty has been teased about what audiences might learn in the first few episodes, but all secrets are being kept under wraps. With its Disney+ shows, Lucasfilm has been pretty consistent about not revealing major surprises in its marketing.

The show, however, is bound to have heart-stopping music, exceptional performances from its cast, and enough emotion packed into each episode that only six installments certainly won’t feel like enough. But we’ll take what we can get. New Star Wars is always worth it.

Obi-Wan Kenobi stars Ewan McGregor with appearances by Hayden Christensen and Kumail Nanjiani and is directed by Deborah Chow, who previously directed an episode of The Mandalorian. The series is set to premiere May 27, 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
