There are a lot of Star Wars TV shows set to premiere or release new episodes during what remains of 2022. Obi-Wan Kenobi arrives in May, and both Andor and Season 2 of The Bad Batch have been confirmed for Disney+ later in the year. With Star Wars Day quickly approaching, fans are hoping for a Bad Batch announcement of some kind on May 4.
May the Fourth is notorious for having the most announcements, premieres, and product reveals surrounding the franchise since it’s a galaxy far, far away’s biggest holiday. We don’t know if we’ll get a Season 2 release date or trailer. But fans really, really want one.
The Bad Batch surprised many Star Wars fans by beginning with Order 66 and, by the end of the season, showing the ultimate destruction of Kamino from the prequel films. Fans also fell in love with Omega, the “Ahsoka” of the show who immediately won hearts with her big heart and infinite curiosity. Fans are excited for the show’s second season — but an announcement related to a release date is still probably a little ways away.
Since The Bad Batch is getting its own panel at Star Wars Celebration at the end of May, it’s unlikely that we’ll get any major announcements about the second season of the show on May 4. Lucasfilm hasn’t had a Celebration-scale event to announce upcoming projects since 2019, and will probably reserve most of its major upcoming reveals for the event itself, which takes place from May 26 to May 29 later next month.
The second season of the series has a lot to explore, especially with its character relationships. Crosshair’s choice to stay with the Empire didn’t resolve his conflict with Clone Force 99 the way many expected. And knowing Star Wars animation, there are probably some familiar characters that will make guest appearances next season — maybe for the first time, and maybe returning from their episodes in Season 1.
All Season 1 episodes of The Bad Batch are available to stream now exclusively on Disney+.
