Mark Hamill announces he won’t be at Star Wars Celebration this year

With celebrities like Ewan McGregor, Katee Sackhoff and more announcing their Star Wars Celebration attendance for this May, fans want to know which of their favorite actors and creators will and won’t be in Anaheim for the biggest a galaxy far, far away fanfare of 2022.
Yesterday, legendary Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill announced that he won’t be able to attend the event this year alongside other Star Wars greats like Ian McDiarmid and Ashley Eckstein. But he gave a pretty good reason for bowing out.
“Sorry I won’t be able to join you this year,” the actor wrote on Twitter yesterday. “I am out of the country filming Mike Flanagan’s [The Fall of the House of Usher] until early July. Have a wonderful time!”
Along with a Last Jedi Force-projection joke. Because how could he not?
The Fall of the House of Usher is an upcoming TV mini-series based on the haunting short story by Edgar Allan Poe that is set to premiere on Netflix. Hamill will play an unnamed character (as in, his exact role hasn’t been announced and is being kept under wraps). The series is currently filming and, judging by Hamill’s tweet, will wrap filming this summer.
While we won’t be seeing Hamill at Celebration this year, there are plenty of other stars, panels and more to experience at the event.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 takes place from May 26 to May 29 with more guests, panels and more to be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. Stay tuned for more coverage before and during the convention.
