What’s in store for Star Wars fans on May the Fourth?
That’s the question we’re all asking as Star Wars Day approaches. Many fans are hoping for big announcements from Lucasfilm about upcoming shows and their release dates — one of the most sought-after being the previously announced Andor series.
The show was announced as part of Disney Investor Day 2020’s giant slate of show and film announcements, which included Rogue Squadron and Star Wars Visions. We’ve now seen The Book of Boba Fett and are about to witness Obi-Wan Kenobi for the first time. But will May 4 bring more Andor news?
With recent rumors that Andor Season 2 filming will begin soon — despite the fact that we don’t even know when Season 1 is set to premiere — it’s very likely we could, at the very least, get the announcement of a release date on May 4.
The likeliest scenario is that Lucasfilm waits until Star Wars Celebration Anaheim later in May to make the big announcement, which would likely include a trailer as well as the show’s premiere date.
But May 4 has surprised us before, and could very well do so again. Without a new Star Wars series premiering or a current one ending on that date, who knows? Anything could happen.
The series, set in the time between the formation of the Rebel Alliance and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has been described as a spy thriller in a galaxy far, far away. We’ll likely learn more about the Alliance’s intelligence network and the role Cassian Andor played in gathering intel that would eventually help defeat the Galactic Empire.
Star Wars: Andor will star Diego Luna and is expected to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
