The Star Wars cosplay community is growing every day, and there’s data to prove it!

More and more, people are using the internet — especially social media sites like TikTok and Instagram — to show off their Star Wars cosplays, give and ask for cosplay tips, and meet other cosplayers using their art and passion to celebrate a galaxy far, far away. A recent survey found the top 10 most popular Star Wars cosplay characters, and the variety in the list is just as surprising as the results.

The survey, conducted by Cazaar.co.uk, used monthly Google searches and social media hashtag volumes to determine the most popular characters Star Wars fans were interested in cosplaying as.

Rey was the No. 1 most popular Star Wars character to cosplay according to the data, followed by Princess Leia, Boba Fett, and Ahsoka Tano. Darth Maul, Padmé Amidala, and Anakin Skywalker were also on the list.

As part of the survey results, Cazaar also gathered a collection of tips for cosplay beginners.

To make your cosplay experience fun and memorable, Cazaar recommends starting out simple. This might include starting with a human character and keeping the outfit closer to a bound (a Star Wars-inspired look, for example, instead of an authentic-looking costume) and choosing a character you already know well. That way, you can get the most enjoyment out of your experience without stressing too much about the process.

Social media can be a positive and supportive place to find fellow cosplayers and share tips and advice with one another. You certainly won’t be the only Rey out there, after all.
