Where is The Bad Batch Season 2? Is it safe? Is it all right?

Thanks to Disney+, Star Wars fans will likely never have to worry about never having something new to watch. But all the new shows coming to the platform this year seem to have left something out: Where is The Bad Batch Season 2?

Vanity Fair recently revealed that Star Wars: Andor is expected to drop late this summer, while The Mandalorian Season 3 could arrive toward the end of the year — or 2023; there’s still no clear window there. So with the Kenobi series on the horizon (expected to finish out by the end of June) and Andor coming in August or September … when can we expect Season 2 of The Bad Batch?

The show’s second season was confirmed in Disney+’s 2022 promotional video, and rumors from earlier this year hinted Season 2 might drop in the spring. Technically there’s still a month left of spring, but Star Wars and Disney+ wouldn’t release three Star Wars shows back-to-back … would they?

Assuming The Bad Batch Season 2 follows its first season’s episode count, it would take about three to four months for every episode to drop. If Kenobi ends in June and Bad Batch were to kick off the week after that, the season could last until September — just enough time for Andor to premiere in the “summer” window.

That’s a lot of Star Wars — even for Star Wars. But perhaps we’ve reached a point in the franchise where big gaps between new Disney+ content are a thing of the past. With live-action and animated shows presumably continuing to share the spotlight, there may not be time to let fans breathe. Lucasfilm can’t make bank if it’s not making shows, after all, and Star Wars will always be its biggest moneymaker.

Some fans may argue that more isn[‘t better — didn’t we learn something from the five-month gap between The Last Jedi and Solo? But there are plenty on the opposite end of the argument. For them, there’s no such thing as too much Star Wars. Perhaps they’ll be the ones best fed in the months to come.

Thankfully, Star Wars Celebration is dedicating an entire panel to The Bad Batch, where fans will likely get at the very least a release date for the show’s second season.

Check back after the Bad Batch panel at Star Wars Celebration to find out if the hit show’s second season is closer — or much further away — than fans have hoped.
