As seen in the first season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch the Empire has created an elite task force to hunt down clone deserters such as the Bad Batch themselves. This task force seems quite limited in the number of clones, but some answers on where our favorite clones have been unanswered.

Whereas we know what happens to Rex, Wolffe, and Gregor due to Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebelsthe last we saw of Commander Cody was him ordering the attack on Obi-Wan during The Revenge of the Sith. That is until The Bad Batch season 2 trailer was released at Star Wars Celebration (which has not yet been released online).

Who is Commander Cody in Star Wars?

Commander Cody was the commanding officer of the 212th Attack Battalion under Obi-Wan Kenobi for most of the duration of the Clone Wars, but he was originally trained for special forces in the Grand Army of the Republic. Because of this we often saw his adaptations to the standard clone armor, with serval additional sensors, antenna, and even a jetpack frequently worn into combat. This early interaction is also what enabled Cody to know about the Bad Batch, and he was the one to call them in to help Rex on Anaxes.

The other major qualities that we saw in Cody were his unwavering loyalty and his condemnation of traitors. This was demonstrated in Commander Cody’s attitude towards the clone traitor Slick early in the Clone War, and now it seems the empire has called on Cody once again to hunt down a pack of traitors.

We briefly see a “reg” pulling a knife out of his gauntlet and this clone may be Commander Cody, who is being recalled to work with Crosshair in an attempt to hunt down the Bad Batch. In the leaked Celebration footage we see Commander Cody interacting with Crosshair on Coruscant, his armor now completely devoid of color.

While it is nice to see Commander Cody getting an end to his story and not just being left in limbo, it may be hard to watch Cody fight his brothers. Especially with Captain Rex also confirmed for this season, we may get a showdown between Crosshair and Cody vs Rex and the Bad Batch. While it would be an epic fight, it might cause a few tears along the way.
