Last month, Star Wars and Funko announced a new line of Funko POP! figures in a series called Power of the Galaxy. The six Amazon-exclusive figures were created to celebrate the powerful women in the Star Wars galaxy, with Padmé Amidala’s figure the first to release this September.

Today, Funko announced the second figure in the upcoming toy line, set to release this October. The new POP! depicts Mandalorian warrior and Rebel Alliance operative Sabine Wren wielding the Darksaber and flying with her stylish jetpack.

This is an especially exciting Funko release for Star Wars: Rebels fans. Throughout the show’s run, figures of the series’ main characters were released to reflect earlier seasons, but not later ones. The characters’ looks changed throughout the show to reflect their growth, especially Sabine, who changed the paint on her helmet as well as her hair color many times throughout the show.

This figure is the first  Funko POP! to feature a different Sabine helmet design (one variant has her wearing her helmet from the show’s first season). It’s also the only POP! that shows her holding the darksaber, a reflection of a highly significant moment in her life and in the show.

While there is still plenty of room for Power of the Galaxy to release figures of new characters who haven’t gotten the Funko treatment yet, it’s honorable that the series chose an animated character to highlight. Of all the Funko POP! Star Wars figures that have been released since 2011, a very small number of them have been dedicated to characters who originated in animated TV shows.

However, with Sabine confirmed to be moving to live-action in the upcoming Ahsoka Disney+ series, it’s no surprise Funko would take the opportunity to give her the spotlight once again.

More Power of the Galaxy Funko POP! figures will be announced as they get closer to release, and both Padmé Amidala and the Sabine Wren POP! figure are available for pre-order on Amazon now.

dark. Next. Will Sabine meet Din Djarin in the Ahsoka series?
