Warning: This article contains spoilers from Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5.

In Star Wars: A New Hope Darth Vader said “The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.” Since then we have been waiting to see just how powerful Vader is, and Obi-Wan Kenobi has shown us.

When you are saying that your power is greater than the ability to destroy a planet, you have to be powerful. While this is certainly not the first time we have seen Anakin doing crazy stuff (changing time during the Mortis Arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars for instance) this is the first time we get to see him go all out in live-action.

Everything from pulling a ship down, to ripping a hull that holds the vacuum of space at bay. This is the big bad that Star Wars was built upon, and we see it gloriously displayed for all to see.

And using the force is consistent with what Vader was known for. After that unfortunate incident on Mustafar, many of his physical abilities were taken away by the loss of limbs and reliance on his suit. So when we see Vader just stopping the Third Sister from attacking him in Obi-Wan Kenobi it completely lines up with everything we know of him.

The fighting style we see Darth Vader use is in line with how he has to fight, taking advantage of his opponent’s inexperience or lack of connection of the Force to his full advantage.

With such a powerful display of power in episode 5, we are left to question just how big of a showdown we will see for the finale of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hopefully, we get more to build on the legend of Darth Vader.
