Does Reva die in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
By Meg Dowell
WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 6.
In this week’s Obi-Wan Kenobi finale, Reva makes her way back to Tatooine in search of a child who is much more important than she realizes. Making her way to the Lars homestead, she is confronted by Owen and Beru, who have sworn to protect Luke Skywalker at all costs.
Does Reva die before the episode ends?
When Luke escapes and tries to run away, Reva pursues him. She likely doesn’t know he is the son of Vader or what his importance is to Obi-Wan Kenobi. She just knows he’s someone the Jedi would do anything to preserve from harm. She is angry, and she wants someone to pay for it.
Reva prepares to strike Luke down, but flashes back to the moment years ago when she and her fellow Younglings were attacked and unable to protect themselves. She realizes she can’t subject Luke — an innocent boy who’s done nothing wrong to anyone — to the same fate as her friends. He deserves to survive, and she can finally let go of the hate that has sustained her for the past decade.
When she confronts Obi-Wan Kenobi after returning Luke to his family, he tells her that she now has a choice to decide who she wants to become. Her anger no longer drives her decisions. She can start over.
Reva is free — free from her anger, regret, and shame. The episode leaves her ending open-ended — she does survive, but it does not specify what happens to her after her final scene. The show implies she could return in another series, but for now, her story is done. She survived the show, and we likely haven’t seen the last of her yet.
All episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
