Behind Disney’s most expensive Star Wars cocktail
By Matthew Roth
Recently, the Hyperspace Lounge — which sits aboard Disney’s new cruise ship– has set sail amongst the stars. However, along with it has come the most “valuable” or expensive drink across the galaxy. Within the lounge there is a cocktail ready to be served to patrons aboard the ship for a simple price of $5,000.
So what exactly is the truth behind this cocktail? Initially it appeared that Disney was ready to serve you a simple alcoholic beverage that would come with the price of a few months rents. Fans across social media were sent into a frenzy when videos began to pop up all over Twitter and we quickly ran for our pitchforks.
Further investigation has proven that there may in fact be more than a simple cocktail for such a hefty fee. According to Scott Gustin, the cocktail contains the following:
-Camus Cognac
-Yuzu and Kumquat
-Grand Marnier Quintessence
-A shot of 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve
- Taylor’s Kingsman Edition Very Old Tawny Port
- And Watenshi Gin
In addition to the mixture, fans who are able to afford such a drink also are sent home with a few other collectibles. The tab includes a bottle of Skywalker Ranch’s own sparkling wine, you get to keep the four cups the drink comes in, a Star Wars backpack, water bottle, decoration, and a special voucher good for one individual to visit the Skywalker Ranch.
Now Skywalker Ranch is not open to the public, so this alone could be worth the price.
It would seem that there is in fact more than meets the eye with this special drink aboard a once in a lifetime cruise.
We can put away our pitchforks for now and instead be in awe of everything this drink gifts to us. Is it worth it still for $5,000? You be the judge.
