Lucasfilm and Star Wars fans alike can continue to rejoice today as The Book of Boba Fett has been nominated for not one but four Emmy Awards! The announcements came today in preparation for the event on September 12 in an event hosted by JB Smoove and Melissa Fumero.
The nominations include: Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (one hour), Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes, and Outstanding Stunt Coordination for a Drama Series, Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
The series debuted on Disney Plus December 29th, 2021 with seven episodes releasing weekly. It debuted at 1.7 million households watched in the first five days and the season finale had been viewed the highest of any Star Wars Disney+ series to that date with 1.5 million viewers.
The series which was created by Jon Favreau, follows Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) having just resurfaced in the hit series The Mandalorian as we flash back to his escape from the Sarlacc pit and into his current reign as the Daimyo of Mos Espa. He is accompanied by assassin and right hand man Fennec Shand (played by Ming-Na Wen) through his struggle to the top and battle with rival gangs of Tatooine.
Longtime fans of the character were elated to see the series spawn new merch items in addition to seeing the bounty hunter on screen. Items such as the newly renamed ” Boba Fett’s Starship” as released by LEGO as well as t-shirts and Funko Pops! hit shelves not long after the shows release.
As of now we don’t have any word as to whether or not there will be a season two but, if season one’s success is anything to go by I am sure fans may not have to wait long. The Emmy Award ceremony will be held September 12th, 2022. Find The Book of Boba Fett streaming now only on Disney+.
