The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger when it comes to having actors from the Star Wars universe crossover. We’ve seen actors such as Ben Mendelsohn, Natalie Portman, Samuel L. Jackson, Andy Serkis, and more step into roles in both franchises and now we can count one more to that list.
Alden Ehrenreich AKA Han Solo from the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story will be stepping into the Marvel Universe in their upcoming Disney+ show Ironheart. While who Ehrenreich is playing has yet to be announced Marvel Studios is reportedly searching for “a white male in his late 20’s.”
Disney and Lucasfilm had originally planned to to build a series of individual films that built upon the universe when they had announced projects such as Rogue One and Solo however, Solo turned out to be the studios lowest grossing Star Wars film grossing only $393.2 million. The film starred Ehrenreich playing the snarky smuggler alongside actors such as Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, and of course everybody’s favorite Wookie Chewbacca played by Joonas Suotamo.
Fans remember when director Ron Howard stepped in to reshoot the film when Phil Lord and Christopher Miller left the franchise due to creative differences. While it was not received well there has been a recent strong support to produce a sequel with Ehrenreich returning. Perhaps his outing in the upcoming series can rekindle the flame and we may hear some rumblings in the future.
For now those unfamiliar with Ironheart can expect to see the character appear in the upcoming Black Panther film: Wakanda Forever played by Dominique Thorne. The character was first created in 2016 by Brian Michael and published by Marvel Comics. It showcases 15 year old Riri Williams who is a certified super genius that develops her own Iron Man armor. There is no word as of yet when the series will debut so be on the lookout for more updates.
