Cassian Andor is about to make his small-screen debut, and Diego Luna is just as excited as the rest of us.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star recently sat down with Total Film to discuss the character of Andor before he’s introduced in the 2016 anthology film. During the interview, he mentioned Cassian’s line to Jyn about how long he had been in the fight presumably against the Empire, and once the events of the show begin to unfold next month, we’ll learn more about how Cassian eventually becomes the man that sacrifices his life to save the galaxy.

He spoke of Cassian:

"“We find him in a place where he’s not aware of how capable he is of transforming or being part of change or executing such a sacrifice, but he is the man that comes out from fighting since he was six years old. He’s a very interesting, dark, wounded person. You’re not going to believe that he’s capable of what he does in Rogue One.”"

In Rogue One, Cassian Andor has already become someone who will do whatever it takes to get the resources he needs to complete a mission. In his first scene, we see how far he is willing to go to protect himself and the Alliance.

But how does a young boy born into the aftermath of war become so willing to keep fighting for what’s right? That’s just part of what we’re going to find out when the Disney+ show begins dropping episodes.

We do know the show will last at least two seasons, and that the episodes will divide time between Cassian’s and Mon Mothma’s journeys during the formation of the Rebel Alliance. The series will give more backstory to Cassian’s early life as a refugee and other events that led him to eventually join the rebellion.
