Pedro Pascal has shed some light on Din Djarin’s new role in The Mandalorian Season 3.
Despite Lucasfilm’s best attempts, the season 3 trailer of the fan-favorite Disney+ show released at Star Wars Celebration in May recently got leaked online.
The footage showed Pascal’s Mando visiting his home planet Mandalore to seek forgiveness for removing his helmet. In another scene, Pascal’s character was seen seemingly leading a group of Mandalorian warriors.
In an exclusive interview with Total Film, Pascal shared his personal insight into the transition for his character. He believes if Mando is to take up a leadership role, he would do it begrudgingly, but at the end find out he’s good at it.
Pascal also revealed that he thoroughly enjoyed exploring this particular character arc of Din Djarin.
"“If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so. I don’t think that there’s anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they’re capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there’s so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”"
Katee Sackoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze is seen in the trailer disappointed over not taking back ownership of the Darksaber. Sackoff describes her character’s state of mind as “re-evaluating” after having failed at her goal.
Sackoff refused to speak further on the matter, but she did share comments about her scenes with Grogu.
"“It’s funny because you always have to think about how you’re interacting with Grogu. It’s so specific, you have to make sure that you’re not doing anything that says something different. Every single thing, every single interaction with Grogu is very, very thought out.”"
After leaving with a young Luke Skywalker to train in the Jedi ways in the last season, Grogu was seen choosing to return to Mando in The Book of Boba Fett.
The Mandalorian season 3 is in post-production now and eyeing a February 2023 release. Jon Favreau recently confirmed that work has begun for Season 4 as well.
