The Star Wars universe might soon get the magic touch of Ryan Coogler.

The writer and director of the Black Panther movies is rumored to be in talks to join a future Star Wars project, according to Giant Freakin Robot.

Fans have long been asking Lucasfilm to get Coogler to do a Star Wars movie, especially after his popularity and recognition of creative genius went through the roof with the massive Chadwick Boseman-starrer.

After Coogler first outing with Marvel Studios became a socio-cultural phenomenon, he became a household name in the nerd circles.

His next MCU venture Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had its official teaser released during the San Diego Comic Con and took the internet by storm. Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, and Winston Duke are all to reprise their respective roles.

The untimely and tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, who is likely to be remembered fondly in the movie, left the mantle of Black Panther vacant. It is rumored to be taken up by Wright’s Shuri, T’Challa’s sister. Michael B. Jordan’s, who caused quite a stir as Erik Killmonger in the first movie, will possibly make a comeback. Marvel’s iconic underwater superhero Namor will be making his big screen debut as the antagonist of the movie.

After felloe MCU directors Jon Favreau and Taika Waititi got a warm welcome by the Star Wars fans, Ryan Coogler is likely to get the same treatment as well. However, the franchise is yet to make any official announcement on the matter.

Coogler is currently also involved with another Marvel project, Ironheart, starring Dominique Throne as Riri Williams. The character is expected to make first appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Alden Ehrenreich, who played the titular character in Solo: A Star Wars Story, was cast in the show in an undisclosed key role.
