Amandla Stenberg was always choice number one

It was revealed that Amandla Stenberg was always the actress in mind for the series The Acolyte.

We don’t know much about the new series from Lucasfilm The Acolyte but, it was announced at San Diego Comic-con 2022 that Amandla Stenberg had been cast as its leading actor. Executive Producer Leslye Headland has told fans that the series is due to explore the waning days of the High Republic era as the Dark Side grows stronger and stronger.

it can be assumed that since this series is set at a time the Sith grows in strength that perhaps it focuses on Stenberg learning the ways of the Dark Side. In a recent interview with The Face, she revealed that Lucasfilm had built the part in the show specifically for her. It would seem the franchise is in good hands as she is quoted saying ” The Lucasfilm team came to me with this project which was fully conceptualized with me in mind and I was astounded. I get to read, watch, and breathe Star Wars. It’s my job to get lost in it, I’m so lucky. My plans were interrupted by a very different life path, but one that I think is going to be a huge blessing.

If you were wondering where you recognized Amandla from but can’t quite place it, she played the character Rue in the film The Hunger Games so it would come as no new ground for her to appear in a massive property. When the casting was announced she was also pictured in a Darth Maul shirt alongside everyone’s favorite droid R2-D2.
