Sabine Wren is coming to live-action Star Wars TV for the very first time, and the actor playing her in the upcoming Disney+ Ahsoka series is taking her job very seriously … while also having an absolute blast at every turn.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter recently, Natasha Liu Bordizzo discussed everything from watching Star Wars Rebels to initially auditioning for Star Wars — even though she didn’t know it at the time.

When asked which qualities of the character she most resonated with, Bordizzo reflected on how Sabine facing challenges has largely helped her confront her own. She sa8d:

"“Her unbelievable bravery, spirit and swag, amidst all the challenge and heartache of everything going on. I think of their crew so often in my life now because I’m like a member of a cult now… In my life, when I’m facing a challenge, I just think about the general spirit of the franchise and taking on challenges with a bit of positivity, a bit of humor and then being able to move on. So it’s just been something that I have learned a lot from, as I’m playing the role itself.”"

At Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022, it was revealed that both Sabine and Hera Syndulla from Rebels (sorry — Chopper, too) will make their live-action debuts in Ahsoka alongside Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano.

Back when it was originally reported that Sabine would appear in the series, fans were told she would have a leading role alongside Ahsoka. While it’s unclear how much of her story will play out in the series, one thing’s for sure: the woman behind the helmet is going to do the character justice, and then some — in the best way possible.

Star Wars: Ahsoka is expected to premiere sometime in 2023 exclusively on Disney+.
