No more Star Wars for John Boyega
By Matthew Roth
John Boyega will not be reprising his role as Finn in Star Wars.
RThe actor has been a sought-after star since his breakout role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy as Finn. He is set to star in two films releasing this year, The Woman King and Breaking. However, one big question for us fans has been whether or not he would ever step back into a galaxy far far away.
Boyega sat down on “Tell Me Everything” with John Fugelsang on SiriusXM and revealed the long-awaited answer. “At this point, I’m cool off it. I’m good off it.” ” I think Finn is data good confirmation point where you can just enjoy him in other things, the games, the animation, but I feel like Episode VII to Episode IX was good for me.” He then adds ” To be fair, with the allies I’ve found within Joel Taylor and Jamie Foxx, Teyonah Parris, Viola Davis, all these people I’ve been working with…versatility is my path.”
Boyega then dove into the racism he faced when entering the Star Wars fandom and the experiences Moses Ingram had also come to face. Moses Ingram being protected makes me feel protected. Do you understand what I’m saying? It makes me feel like, Okay cool I am not the elephant in the room. Because when I started, it wasn’t really a conversation you could bring up.” ” It was kind of like, let’s just be silent.” He added that he doesn’t feel bitter but does add that he will not be returning to the franchise.
If you remember it was confirmed in the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special that Finn was indeed forced sensitive and that he was being trained by Rey. This left to hope that there would be a potential return to these characters as they have so much story left to be told. While he closed the door for now who knows what the future may hold.
